I'm not really a fan of doing this but the result really isn't that bad.
I'm again doing this on all of the frames me and my friend got finished just so I can get done with this project a little faster. After testing this process out, I have come to know that Microsoft Paint sucks for animation. to work with the layers I made for color, lines, and shadows, I had to either get everything done in one go or save each layer as an individual file since I can't save my paint projects in a format that isn't just a flat image. Although, using this newer version of paint makes this whole thing significantly less of a headache. don't get me started on how this could be done on any previous version.
I hate to say this but I think I have to download Krita... NOT!!! (I like to make the things I do in art super inconvenient)

Are constant updates ok here or would I be better off posting these on a microblogging site like twitter?
This weekend, I got a few more things done. Drew a few frames and familiarized myself with one idea I had for creating my layers; relying solely on the paper itself. Here's what I got done for that along with my nearly done rough for a single movement:
I Achieved this by cutting around the subject I traced, making sure to leave uncut areas to act as supports (while keeping in mind of any other objects that would be included in the final scene). I then cut out everything within frame of what would contain the final work except the subject and supports connecting it to the edges of the paper.
I honestly feel pretty satisfied with the result. For one of the more cheaper options on my list of ideas (besides going full digital) it definitely doesn't look bad. I feel like this could be explored a little further through some experimentation on how the supports can help frame the shot or how it can be used to emphasize certain emotions.
However, there are a few limitations to this that would deter me from using this for every project. the supports make any moving object in a scene obvious which could limit how you control what the audience sees. And there's only so many layers that you can use before the background gets heavily obscured. I'm gonna have to think long and hard before using this to save a few bucks.
I hope whoever reads this found this interesting enough to try it out.

so I know how many in-betweens I need to use. I find that flipping through pages may now provide me with exactly when I want each frame to appear. I also had the time to make another frame (it's within the sequence shown here)

Hooray! I had free time!
I worked with my friend with the little time we had and made a few frames.
And yes, that’s a lamp on my bed.
My buddy messed up on a frame so I used it to figure out how I was going to color the video once we got it all traced. I think I didn’t do so bad for a beginner at watercolor.
Crazy that I have to trace and do color for 4 versions of every frame (to test layering methods) like this, think of all the inconsistencies when using watercolor or shading with pen.
I decided that for the plastic sheet method mentioned in an earlier post, I’ll use 8 1/2 by 11 inch projector sheets with traced objects glued on
Ok, that’s it, Goodbye! :D

Just finished servicing my video camera! Printed a manual to go with it and I might read it later. Everything’s working nicely so I’m thinking about doing something VHS stop motion once I get my layering project done.
I also have a little bit of time after school to work on one or two frames on my layering video. Trying not to push myself too hard here, that always ends in burnout.

While looking for new lamps, I stumbled across a video camera. It was missing the battery but after testing it in the store, I decided that it was worth bringing home and because of that, I have to get my whole room organized so I can find a place for it as well as test it for any problems, fix it if they do, and clean the thing. Really makes me wish I had some kind of routine to help with keeping my space clean. I takes me while to clean my room so I think I could resume Friday if I can get myself to focus.
I also think I need to redo some of those storyboard frames, my mind can't reliably fill in the blanks between the first three.
I'll give you some test footage if I have the time to do so. Goodbye!

I got a quick drawing done with my friend for the video at home.
I also took a similar picture of this without editing.

I’m currently on a trip to somewhere that’d probably have me away from home all day and my setup definitely isn’t very portable. In the meantime, here’s a quick little sketch on my phone of Mr. Nutling (the squirrel character I don’t have a permanent name for yet)
I think I forgot to add his eye bags.
Credit to my friend for the totally original character design. You can easily find him on Twitter, he loves to draw Angry Birds and Nobel Nutlings.

Yesterday, I started working on my video for different kinds of layering and today I got a storyboard stitched together. I showed this to a friend and they liked it.
So, what happens in the video is that there's this nutling oc who really hates this blue thing with hair (currently my profile pic) so he chokes him
It's a little rough but I think that's what you'd expect from one night where only one person needs to understand whats happening. I think I'll start animating tomorrow.
Ok, that's it. Goodbye!
Edit: The Gif isn't working but I'll figure somethin' out later
