Testing out different ways to color things!

Posted by MotorOil09 - 2 days ago

I think it'd be nice to add a bit of color to my crappy art for once so I decided that today, I'm testing out different ways to color things.

I was trying to make a totally original character who looked "heavily inspired" by an existing one but I'm not so sure if it really looks that way anymore; I showed it to a friend and they didn't know what character I took it from. So far, I tested out two mediums I haven't done in a while.

The Character

This is a picture of the character without any color, drawn with a regular number 2. This was the second iteration of the character where I made the head just a little more oval-like in shape as well as made him shorter.

construction paper

I didn't really like working with construction paper but I believe I may find use for this in the future for it's cool layering effect. I was using a surgical scalpel instead of my usual X-Acto knife so maybe I'll use that to get a better feel for it next time. This is the first iteration of the character.

Watercolor

I liked working with watercolor very much, I think it looks very cool. I really liked how the third version of this guy turned out, so much so that I changed my profile picture to them. I might change my profile back later because I also like my external hard drive.

If you have any ideas on what to name this character, please comment. Ok, that's it, goodbye!
